He becomes the fourth managerial departure in the league this season after Neil Warnock (resigned at Huddersfield Town), Xisco Munoz (sacked by Sheffield Wednesday) and John Eustace (sacked by Birmingham City).

Rowett was the second longest-serving manager in the Championship and would’ve reached his four year anniversary at the club on October 21st.

Under his management, Millwall finished no lower than 11th in the second tier, ending last season in eighth place. They missed out on a play-off place with a 4-3 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers on the final day of last season, while their underwhelming start to the 2023/24 campaign led to significant backlash off the field.
