Tottenham news – Spurs could find themselves in the Premier League title race if their impressive form under Ange Postecoglou continues
Tottenham have been backed by a supercomputer to match a stunning feat set by north London rivals Arsenal two decades ago. Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs currently sit top of the Premier League table level with the Gunners on points but ahead on goals scored with both teams unbeaten.
Prior to the October international break, Tottenham beat Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, playing the entirety of the second half with a man disadvantage after Yves Bissouma was sent off. The Mali international’s dismissal means he will be suspended for the upcoming Premier League clash against Fulham on Monday evening.
Postecoglou could also be without two members of the influential leadership trio in Cristian Romero and club captain Son Heung-min. While playing for South Korea, Son was seen hobbling around on a number of occasions, yet he was still able to contribute a goal and assist in a 6-0 win against Vietnam.
Romero meanwhile, was unable to continue after suffering a knock to the ankle in action for Argentina against Peru. Thankfully for Spurs, early signs show it is not a serious issue but there is still understandable concern over his availability for the London Derby in four days
The squad depth at Postecoglou’s disposal is minimal and the duo’s potential absence will come as a massive blow and it is a problem that desperately needs addressing if Spurs want to maintain their impressive start. Despite the concerns they will not be able to sustain a title challenge, the Lilywhites, based on data from the season thus far, compiled by Grosvenor Casinos, are not only being backed to win the Premier League title but also remain unbeaten for the entire season.
Arsenal are the only team to achieve such a feat with their 2003/04 title triumph coming after they recorded no league losses. The data shows that both Arsenal and Spurs will in fact go undefeated achieving 2.6 points per game with both teams amassing an expected points tally of 95, once again, based on their respective records so far this campaign.
