Sevilla have endured a relatively rough start to the new season. One of the few bright spots for Los Nervionenses, however, has been their goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland who averages two saves per game.

The Sevilla goalkeeper spoke to AS in the buildup of the clash between his team and Real Madrid. As part of the detailed interview, he opened up on the Merengues and some of their key players, beginning with his views on Thibaut Courtois.

“Thibaut is very, very good. For a few years, the best. In several of the Champions Leagues that Madrid has won, Courtois was the main star with his great stops.”

“But Kepa is also doing well. It’s not easy to fill a hole like that,” he added on the Belgian’s replacement.

Nyland then went on to elaborate on Real Madrid and the general feeling in the Sevilla dressing room over facing the league leaders.

“We respect them a lot, but without fear. Despite some results, this Seville is able to compete with anyone. We have shown it in the Super Cup against City or also against Barcelona, where we lost 1-0.”

“We know that we will have opportunities to score and we count on the fans in our favour,” he added.

Finally, the shot-stopper addressed the elephant in the room – Jude Bellingham. When asked about the young English phenom’s stellar start to life in Spain, he said:

“10 goals in 10 games and as a midfielder. It is clear that he had the scorer inside. And also that he is very mature for his age. Despite his 20 years, he is a leader, who knows how to pull his teammates.”

“In addition, sometimes he seems indecipherable because he moves stealthily in the area, he knows when to appear, but he is also very good at dribbling and with the ball,” he added on Bellingham’s guile in the final third.
