Inter Milan coach on the brilliant performance of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram…

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that the outstanding form of strikers Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram isn’t too surprising.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the coach noted that his teams have a history of strikers being prolific.

Over the first couple months of the season, Martinez and Thuram have formed a devastating strike partnership.

The pair have scored a total of sixteen goals.

Martinez has scored the lion’s share of those – twelve. But on the other hand, Thuram has come up with five assists to his strike partner’s one.

Clearly the two Nerazzurri strikers have found operating together to be very successful.

Martinez and Thuram have been key to the Nerazzurri getting to the top of the Serie A table.

Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi gave his thoughts on the form of his two strikers at the start of the campaign.

“We’ve started well,” Inzaghi said.

“But generally in my teams throughout all the seasons, the attackers have always scored goals.”

“Now we need continuity between the two phases of play,” he added. “We’re doing well now, but we need to keep growing.”

Inzaghi also commented on Saturday evening’s Serie A win away to Torino.

“It was important to win away in Turin,” he said. “We knew it wouldn’t be easy.”

“We brought home three massive points, which allows us to go into tomorrow’s match in the ideal mindset.”

And as far as whether Red Bull Salzburg’s aggressive style of play will cause his team problems, Inzaghi said “Absolutely.”

“They’re an intense and aggressive team who’ve won the Austrian title ten years in a row now. They’re used to the Champions League.”

“They also have a coach who’s worked in their youth system for many years,” Inzaghi noted. “He knows his players well, and they’ve made a great impact in the Champions League.”
