Cardiff City face Huddersfield Town tonight at the John Smith’s Stadium looking to get their Championship campaign back on track following three matches without a win
Erol Bulut is demanding a big improvement from his Cardiff City players as they prepare to face Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium. The Bluebirds have dropped to 11th in the Championship following a three-match winless run.
Bulut was unhappy with their showing in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Blackburn Rovers. Joe Rankin-Costello’s second half strike proved the difference to leave Cardiff two points off the play-off positions.
On their loss to Rovers, boss Bulut said: “I said to my players inside, this game, we have to forget. We have to focus for Tuesday, and quick. I want to see a different team on the field, to get three points back that we lost [at Blackburn].”
The Turkish chief will be unable to call upon a number of key players due to injury against the Terriers tonight. Kion Etete is still recovering from a hamstring problem, while midfield duo Callum O’Dowda and Aaron Ramsey remain on the sidelines.
O’Dowda has undergone surgery for a groin injury and is not expected to return to action until December. As for Ramsey, the Wales international is on the road to recovery from a knee problem. “Already he has started slowly to run,” said Bulut. “He is doing well,” said Bulut.
“I’m surprised it [the recovery] goes so quick. I hope it continues like this.”
The goals have dried up for the Bluebirds in recent weeks. They have found the back of the net just once in their past three outings.
When asked if he plans to strengthen their attacking options in the New Year, Bulut replied: “Until January we have to go with this squad. We will try and make the best. In January we have to do something in the transfer market, because we need it.”
