The Phoenix Suns got their first win of the season behind some strong play from Devin Booker.
With Bradley Beal out with a back injury and Kevin Durant struggling from the field, the star guard took over as both a scorer and a facilitator to put his team on his shoulders.
Booker was the Suns’ de facto point guard, which is not his usual position, yet he finished the night with a game-high 32 points to go along with six rebounds and eight assists.
When asked about the naysayers who state the Suns don’t have a point guard, Booker simply responded that he doesn’t talk to the naysayers at all (via NBA on TNT).
It was a cold response from a young man who’s proved that he doesn’t deal well with criticism multiple times in his career.
But, to be fair, Booker has always let his game speak for itself, and he backs up that attitude on the court every single time he plays.
The actual truth is that the Suns do not have a point guard, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have someone capable of setting up the offense.
Booker had already handled playmaking duties early in his career.
He’s not a selfish player, and he helps his teammates get to their spots.
As for being a floor general or a pass-first kind of player, he’s not and never will be one, and that’s perfectly fine.
