El Universal have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are already plotting to make an offer for Club America centre-back Sebastian Caceres when the transfer window opens in January.
While Caceres has shone in the Mexican top flight over the last couple of years, it is his recent performances for the Uruguayan national team that have seemingly brought him to the attention of the top clubs in Europe.
Tottenham’s interest in the 24-year-old first came to light at the start of this week when Football Insider revealed thatu’s Ange Postecoglou men were left impressed by the player’s solid display in Uruguay’s 2-0 win over Brazil during the international break.
A couple of days ago, Record named Tottenham and Sevilla as the two clubs eyeing Caceres and suggested that Club America are increasingly resigned to Caceres
o the player leaving in January.
El Universal have now become the latest outlet to report on Tottenham’s interest, saying that it is no secret that the North London club want to sign the defender.
The report alleges that the Lilywhites are already ‘preparing an offer’ for Caceres but it is not mentioned how much the Premier League side will bid or how much the centre-back is valued at.

Signing Caceres based only on a few international performances would represent a gamble as he is not proven at the highest level. At 24 years of age, he is also close to a finished product rather than a player who has a lot of room to grow like Alejo Veliz.
