Romelu Lukaku is used to angering fans of different teams but this Sunday, the Roma striker may experience something that he has ever seen before when he returns to the San Siro to take on Inter.As reported by Gazzetta, the Inter ultras are planning to hand out 30,000 whistles to fans before the game. The plan is to whistle every time Lukaku gets near the ball.
In practice this exercise may be stopped by the referee as it may make his job even more difficult than it already is, if the authorities end up allowing the whistles to be carried inside. Recently, Fiorentina fans had used about 10,000 whistles to welcome former striker Dušan Vlahović during a Coppa Italia game over a year ago.
Lukaku will have to drown out the noise and try and focus on his football. He’s made a very strong start to the season for Roma, already bagging eight goals for Mourinho’s side.
Inter go into the game leading Serie A, whilst Roma are down in seventh and are still recovering from a very poor start to their season. A win on Sunday would however go a long way to putting them back near the Champions League spots.
