After being appointed as Tottenham manager Postecoglou faced criticism and was questioned by many pundits over his inverted full-back system.
Neville was among those who weren’t fully convinced initially as he referenced Postecoglou’s style as a Pep-inspired idea.
Last night – after Spurs toppled Crystal Palace to stay top of the Premier League – pundit Jamie Carragher couldn’t resist bringing up Neville’s comments to Postecoglou.
In a tongue-in-cheek question, he asked: “At the moment you are just copying Pep, aren’t you?”
PLaying along, Postecoglou replied: “I just study one game a week and see what he is doing and I go from there!
“And you know what, there is nothing wrong with that.
Neville then jumped in to insist he tried to copy Guardiola during his nightmare spell as Valencia boss. He said: “I tried to copy him.
Quick as a flash, Postecoglou savaged Neville, as he smirked: “How’d that go?”
And the former Celtic manager wasn’t finished, as his on-air interview finished he exited joking: “I’ll just go and watch Man City…”
Spurs currently sit five points clear at the top of the table albeit having played one game more than nearest rivals Man City and Arsenal.
In Postecoglou’s first ten matches, Spurs have remained unbeaten with eight wins and two draws so far.
Hailing his start to life down south, Chris Sutton praised Postecoglou stating: “Ange Postecoglou has made the greatest managerial impact ever in Premier League history after 10 games. It’s not up for debate…”
