Report: ‘Top’ Celtic target is now going to be offered to Chelsea in exchange for £17.5m player…

Celtic may miss out on Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin amid claims that he will now be offered up to Chelsea.

Andriy Lunin may now be on his way to Chelsea in January, rather than Celtic.

That is according to The Sun, who claim that Real Madrid are set to offer Lunin to Chelsea ahead of the transfer window.

Ukraine's outbreak gets Lunin: positive for COVID-19

Kepa Arrizabalaga left Chelsea for Real Madrid in August, landing the Spaniard on loan after a major injury to Thibaut Courtois.

The 29-year-old has now started nine La Liga games this season and it looks like Real want to keep hold of him…

The Sun now claim that Real want to keep Kepa permanently but only want to pay around £17.5million for his signature.

To try and sweeten the deal, Real will allegedly offer another goalkeeper to Chelsea.

Andriy Lunin will allegedly be presented as a potential Chelsea signing if they want another stopper to replace Kepa long-term.

Chelsea did sign two goalkeepers over the summer as Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic both arrived.

Chelsea continue to be linked with goalkeepers but adding more depth in Lunin doesn’t really add up for us.

The only way the Blues should be signing another stopper is if somebody who would immediately become first-choice becomes available.

That isn’t really Lunin, so Chelsea may well send Real packing with that offer.

This rumour will be of interest to Celtic, who are looking to land Lunin in 2024.

The Daily Record reported earlier in October that Celtic are keen to lure Lunin to Glasgow in January.

Joe Hart is out of contract next summer whilst Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist won’t really be seen as long-term starters.

That means Celtic will be looking to sign a new first-choice goalkeeper with Lunin thought to be a top target.

Lunin has been praised as a ‘top’ goalkeeper by Carlo Ancelotti but that hasn’t resulted in first-team minutes.

Lunin should be focusing on playing with his next move – and Celtic would be a better move than Chelsea in that regard.
