Breaking News:A well respected top Southampton player make a bold statement and it put the club checking

Southampton have scored late goals in each of their last five matches in the Championship and currently sit fourth in the table heading into the November international break

Adam Armstrong says it’s no coincidence that Southampton are continuing to score late goals in the Championship this season.

Russell Martin’s side have scored in second-half stoppage time in three of their last five league matches, while in the other two Armstrong has netted in the final ten minutes of the game.

Those goals have accounted for ten points in the table, with Southampton currently on an eight-game unbeaten run that sees them sit fourth heading into the November international break.

Armstrong’s goal against the Baggies on the weekend sealed another victory, with that strike being his ninth of the season to make him the division’s second-top goalscorer behind only Blackburn Rovers’ Sammie Szmodics.

Speaking about his goal after the full-time whistle, Armstrong told the Southampton website: “I’ve seen Ryan out wide and I knew he was going to cross it because that’s what he’s good at doing. It’s just being in the right positions in the box.

“I’ve seen it quite late, coming over the heads, but it was nice to put it away. It’s definitely not a coincidence – you see the way we play, we stick to the game plan from the first minute to the 90th minute.

It’s not a coincidence we’re scoring late goals because of how relentless we’re being during the games.
