Late on Sunday evening, it was announced that Poland manager Michal Probierz had been forced to make three changes to his squad, including having to replace Aston Villa’s Matty Cash.
The defender dropped out of representing his national team this time around, but no reason was given as to why such a decision had been made.
Meczyki journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk, however, dug a little deeper, and took to X to give more information about the Aston Villa starter’s situation.
He wrote that while Matty Cash had played the entire game this weekend against Fulham, he had done so while suffering through some pain from a previous shoulder injury.
The reporter then added that after the match, ‘the pain was so great that he will have to rest for a few days’.
Therefore, sending him across Europe to play some more football was very clearly something Aston Villa advised against.
Cash will now have just under two weeks to recover from his injury in order to play pain free for Unai Emery in his club’s next fixture against Tottenham on November 26th.
