Celtic winger Daizen Maeda was unjustly sent off in the Hoops’ 6-0 loss to Atletico Madrid last week. Indeed the challenge that made the Japan internationalist see red also saw him sustain an injury.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed at the end of last week that Maeda will miss up to six weeks of action. Recently, the 26-year-old gave an update on social media.
Posting on X, Maeda wrote that he would come back stronger as he shared a picture of himself playing football, and another of him in a park on crutches:
It will undoubtedly be concerning for those of a Celtic persuasion that Maeda is on crutches, but it is likely only standard when one sustains a knee injury the type of his.
He will aim to recover fairly quickly and come back in and contribute as his team begins a hugely busy part of the campaign. Having injuries at such a time is not ideal, and Maeda almost does the work of two players. Due to this, Rodgers will want him back as soon as possible.
