Just Now: Nottingham Forest voted as major Premier League transfer rule change thrown out…

Nottingham Forest were among eight Premier League clubs to vote against a change to Premier League rules, according to reports.

It was proposed to clubs on Tuesday that a ban should be put in place to stop clubs from signing players on loan from related clubs during the January transfer window. It would have, therefore, blocked the likes of Newcastle from signing players on loan from the Saudi Pro League when the window opens.

The vote was held at a Premier League meeting, but the proposal narrowly missed out on the 14-club threshold it needs in order to come into effect. According to the Times, Forest were one of the clubs to vote against the rule being introduced.

There was also another vote on tougher rules on commercial deals between clubs related to the same ownership, but, again, that proposal was thrown out after 13 of the 14 clubs needed, voted in favour. It was only Burnley from the clubs who voted against the transfer changes, who voted in favour.

The vote means that Forest will be able to sign players on loan from the likes of Olympiacos when the January window opens. The last player to complete a move from the Greek side to the City Ground was defender Mohamed Drager in the summer of 2021, although that was a permanent deal.
