Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has raved about Morgan Gibbs-White after yesterday’s defeat to Brighton.
The Reds were beaten for the first time this season on home soil as the Seagulls put Forest to the sword
Gibbs-White returned to form. He assisted Anthony Elanga for the first goal and then scored the second himself from the penalty spot.
Forest fans were incensed with Gibbs-White with many bemoaning his set pieces. David Prutton was also critical, calling for Harry Toffolo to take over the dead-ball situations
Forest head coach Cooper was quizzed on the contribution of Gibbs-White after yesterday’s game
The head coach was clearly upset at the defeat but he did find time to praise the 23-year-old.
Cooper told BBC Radio Nottingham: “Yes, it’s good that he’s got the assist and it’s good that he’s got the goal. He always shows a great attitude to the game and the work rate and wanting to do the right things.
Sometimes he will do something and it won’t come off because of the way he is. Morgan knows what I think of him and we’ve just got to keep going.
More Forest goals and assists will be in the sights of Gibbs-White this season and he looks to gain consistency.
The youngster is technically brilliant though and hopefully, with the right guidance he can get back to top form.
On Saturday, Gibbs-White was fantastic for Forest. He was one of the best Reds players and he didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
With the injuries stacking up, Forest need to ensure Gibbs-White can stay fit for the majority of the season again.
Playing every week can only help Gibbs-White and Forest fans will hope that yesterday can spark a run of good form by the attacker.
