UPDATE: Toronto Raptors star Gradey Dick Takes Important Step Forward Despite Inefficinet Shooting with Raptors 905…

The Toronto Raptors are seeing Gradey Dick continue to play with confidence despite another inefficient shooting performance with the Raptors 905

Gradey Dick took an important step in the right direction in his second G League game with the Raptors 905 on Monday night.

Following up on a disastrous debut for the Toronto Raptors first-round pick, Dick looked a little better in his second showed, chipping in 22 points in 38 minutes. It wasn’t the most efficient showing, though, as Dick shot just 5-for-21 from the field and 3-for-12 from three-point range.

Raptors rookie Gradey Dick is showing he's more than a shooter

The most important part of that stat line is the 21 shot attempts that suggest Dick hasn’t lost confidence in his shot. Despite his struggles both in the G League and with the Raptors so far this year, he’s yet to shy away from letting it fly.

He nailed a pair of catch-and-shoot threes above the break in the first half. He beat an aggressive closeout and nailed a mid-range jumper in the fourth and then followed that up with an impressive fadeaway three-pointer running into the corner that he swished. He finished the night with a layup after corralling an off-target alley-oop pass from Mouhamadou Gueye.

Dick added four rebounds, two assists, and two steals to his stat line but was a minus-12 in a 10-point loss for the 905.

As for the rest of the team, Javon Freeman-Liberty was the big standout. He scored 26 points on 9-for-17 shooting That came with six rebounds and two steals, but he did foul out of the game after 31 minutes.

Dick is expected to spend a little more time with the 905 and will likely play on Friday in the annual G League game at Scotiabank Arena when the 905 take on the Maine Celtics at 11 am ET.
