Philippe clement happy with the step rangers are taking over this rangers star future

The Light Blues youngster – who has started to make an impression on the first-team set up – has penned a new contract at Ibrox until 2027 in a major boost to the Ibrox men.

Philippe Clement has hailed the ‘important’ Rangers step in securing Ross McCausland’s long-term future.

The Light Blues youngster – who has started to make an impression on the first-team set up – has penned a new contract at Ibrox until 2027.

He has broke through this campaign and has been a regular in the matchday squads under his new Belgian boss. He was handed a first senior start away at Livingston recently at the Tony Macaroni Arena and has also picked up vital minutes in the Europa League as he continues to build-up his matchday experience.

Clement has been clear from the off that young talents in Govan WILL get the chance to shine if they show all the right qualities and work ethic expected.

That has been the case with McCausland who has left his new manager very pleased with his continual progress. He is certain the fresh terms are more than merited as he bids to push on and establish himself as a regular in the starting side and pick up many more minutes this season.

Commenting on the deal, Clement said: “I am really pleased with the progress Ross has made in recent weeks, and he is deserving of this new contract.

I have been clear that young players will be given an opportunity at this club if they show the right qualities and work ethic, and Ross has done that.

Ross is a talented young player, and I think it is an important step from the club to move to secure his future here.”

McCausland added via Rangers’ official website: “I’m really pleased to have agreed this new deal with the club. It’s no secret I am a massive Rangers supporter, and there was no doubt in my mind I wanted to commit my future here for the long-term.

I’m extremely grateful to the new manager for giving me an opportunity in recent weeks, and I want to repay him and everyone at the club with my performances on the pitch in the years to come.”
