Sad report: Jordan Love is unavailable for Next game, Green bay Packers Head Coach report today..see more
GREEN BAY — Just when it looked like Christian Watson’s up-and-down season was on the upswing again, the Green Bay Packers second-year wide receiver’s status for Monday night’s matchup with the New York Giants is uncertain.
Watson left Sunday night’s 27-19 win over the Kansas City Chiefs after injuring his right hamstring — the same hamstring he injured at the end of training camp, forcing him to miss the first three games of the regular season — and coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that the team’s medical staff was still working to determine the extent of the injury.
We do not know yet,” LaFleur said during his usual day-after-the-game news conference at Lambeau Field. “We’re waiting till tomorrow and should have a better indication of where he’s at.”
Watson was injured late in the game as he tried to give himself up at the end of a 10-yard run and forced the Chiefs to use their final timeout of the second half.
Watson did not return to the game and finished the night with seven receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
Coupled with his performance in the Packers’ Thanksgiving Day win over the Detroit Lions, Watson has now caught 13 passes for 165 yards and four TDs over the past two games.
Last year, as a rookie, Watson had 15 receptions for 313 yards and all seven of his TDs in a four-game span in November and early December.
Speaking after the game, Watson confirmed the injury is to the same hamstring as he dealt with earlier in the year.
“We’ll see,” he said of missing time. “I just pulled up a little bit at the end there with my hamstring. Obviously, (I’ll) try to take care of that as quickly as I can.”
