LeBron James Talks About The Next Carrier Stage After In Tournament Win

LeBron James Talks About The Next Carrier Stage After In Tournament Win.

It’s no secret that the NBA’s current talent level is unprecedented.

Even lowly-performing teams possess a copious amount of assets, as for example, the 2-20 Detroit Pistons have several high-caliber young players including Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson, and Jalen Duren.

As such, an NBA’s expansion may be on the horizon, and Las Vegas has been shortlisted as a potential destination.

Coming off of an In-Season Tournament championship in the Sin City, LeBron James has entered discussion as a potential buyer of that expansion team.

There’s much ambiguity surrounding the expansion process, as questions remain regarding where the franchises (likely two) will reside, along with the timeline as to when the NBA will establish their existence, combined with the need to build arenas and conduct an expansion draft.

To that end, given the expectation that we’re a few years away, LeBron’s future retirement should align well with the availability of a team to purchase.

Given NBA valuations, however, while LeBron carries the billionaire tag, it’s unlikely that he’d be able to buy the franchise alone.

While in the above clip, Adrian Wojnarowski mentions an “ownership group” that James is a part of, there’s no clarity as to who his business partners are.

This is certainly something to keep an eye on, as James seems adamant about capitalizing on this opportunity.

From the NBA’s end, having a buyer lined up with the brand recognition, marketability, and basketball experience of James may entice Adam Silver and co. to accelerate the expansion process, as they’d have no trouble selling tickets, irrespective of their performance.
