Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs In Trouble For Drug Test Could This Be The Reason…

After taking down the Minnesota Vikings 30-24 on Sunday and winning their first division crown in 30 years, celebratory t-shirts, hats and good vibes awaited the Detroit Lions in the visitors’ locker room.

For Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, though, there was an additional surprise taped right to his locker: a notification of a drug test.

The rookie running back posted a picture on his Instagram story, showcasing that he had been “selected by the NFL drug-testing program’s independent administrator to complete a performance-enhancing substances test” on Sunday.

Per the rules, Gibbs is to meet with the Doping Control Officer to learn testing procedures and find out the proper timeline to complete and submit his sample.

Gibbs had an impressive showing during the Lions’ victory, finishing with 100 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. He rushed the ball 15 times for 80 yards along with the two aforementioned scores. He also pulled in four catches for 20 yards.

With 2:54 left in the first half, Gibbs helped give the Lions a 17-7 lead as he scored his first touchdown of the game on a 14-yard run.

He scored the game’s final touchdown with 11:09 left in the fourth quarter, a short run from Minnesota’s three-yard line.

Gibbs, whom the Lions selected with the No. 12 overall pick in this year’s draft, also made significant team history during Sunday’s win. He surpassed the late Mel Farr for the fifth-most yards from scrimmage produced by a rookie in a single season.

He also joined Barry Sanders (1989) and Billy Sims (1980) to become the third rookie in franchise history to produce 1,000-plus yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns in a single season.
