”Thursday’s Showdown: Meet The MIA players- Jet At Browns Inactives!”

for a Week 16 matchup on Thursday Night Football. The Jets are eliminated from playoff contention, and the Browns currently hold the first Wildcard seed with a one-game advantage over the Buffalo Bills (-13)

The AFC currently has five teams that are 7-8 behind the 9-6 Bills; three of those teams are in the AFC South, including the Jaguars who sit atop the division. With two games left, the Browns are positioned well.

The Jets had a catastrophically Jet-like season. Their expectations soared high through the sky like a Boeing-787. Reality, though, is a ruthless plane of existence, and the Jets season was six feet under by Week 15.

Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles four plays into the year, young former second-round pick Zach Wilson failed to respond to the call – he is not the answer – and Jets’ brass allowed a former Super Bowl MVP to walk out their door in the offseason.

The former quarterback is 38-year-old Joe Flacco who – in an unlikely twist – is the hottest quarterback in the league right now. In four starts with the Browns, Flacco has thrown for 1,321 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has gone over 300 yards passing in each of the last three games, and the Browns are 3-0 in that span.

Flacco was adequate last season with the Jets, but he is playing quality football for Cleveland and has a chip on his shoulder. Here’s Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh on Flacco’s recent success:

Flacco expressed interest in reuniting with the Jets during the offseason, but the Jets declined and decided to roll with Wilson as their backup option to their newly acquired quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.

The Flacco vs. Jets story is interesting, and not one that anyone thought we’d see at the end of the 2023 season.

Cleveland ends their season in Cincinnati in Week 18, and the Jets play New England in Foxborough.
