Shocking Revelation As Four Horse Coaches Vie For Bolts’ Top Spot!!!

The Los Angeles Chargers will have a big decision to make next year, as they will be handing the keys to the proverbial kingdom to a new head coach. The good news is that the Bolts couldn’t have picked a better time to have to select their next leader on the field. There have been plenty of rumors that have tied the team to big candidates like Bill Belichick and Jim Harbaugh.

While both are certainly strong candidates, there are four names that would likely be the biggest fit. Daniel Popper of The Athletic broke down the likely candidates, which includes both Belichick and Harbaugh. “There is a group of four coaching candidates that I believe the Chargers will make a strong financial push for: [Ben] Johnson, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.” via Daniel Popper, The Athletic All four of the named candidates that are listed would be huge acquisitions.

Starting with Ben Johnson of the Detroit Lions. Johnson has transformed the Lions from a bottom-tier team to a complete powerhouse in the NFC North. The team was able to secure their first divisional win in 30 years. Johnson will be a hot commodity once the season wraps up, and the Chargers would be wise to give him strong consideration. Johnson has been able to help Jared Goff rebound his career, and he could do the same with Justin Herbert.

It’s not that Herbert is terrible by any means, but he is being underutilized. Jim Harbaugh is another interesting candidate who has been linked to the Chargers plenty. Harbaugh has flirted with returning to the NFL for years at this point, but we could finally see him come back to take over the Bolts HC position.

Harbaugh left the NFL after coaching the San Francisco 49ers between 2011-2014. He was instrumental in turning the Niners into their own powerhouse, and he could do the same for the ailing Chargers. Bill Belichick has been linked to the Chargers for a long time. The rumors are that Robert Kraft is set to release Belichick after his long-tenure career with the New England Patriots. Despite the criticism of his coaching style these days, he led the Patriots to multiple titles. His keen eye for drafting players is what the Bolts need right now as well.

One of the more interesting choices in the list is current Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Just like Brandon Staley, Quinn is a defensive-minded coach who could help to transform the Chargers into something fierce. Dean Spanos may want to look in the opposite direction for the next head coach, but Quinn deserves a deep look. After his time with the Atlanta Falcons as head coach, Quinn would take on the defensive coordinator position for the Cowboys. He has not yet left for a head coaching vacancy, though we imagine he could do so if the Chargers come knocking.

There are other candidates that the Chargers will look at, as John Spanos revealed the search for a new HC and GM will be “extensive.” The hope is that the new front office can turn the team back into an AFC playoff contender.
