Exclusive News: Rodgers’ Shocking Player Purge for January! Find Out Who’s on the Chopping Block as Hoops Boss Clears the Way for Star Signings!”

Brendan Rodgers admits honest conversations have been had with players deemed surplus to requirements at Celtic.

And the Hoops boss hopes to clear the way for new January signings by offloading a string of fringe men this month. Rodgers wants to trim his bloated squad over the coming weeks to a more manageable level, with over 30 first-team players currently on the books at Parkhead.

Outcasts like Ben Siegrist, Yuki Kobayashi and James McCarthy have been instructed to find new clubs, while Alexandro Bernabei, Gustaf Lagerbielke and David Turnbull will be allowed to move on. Hyeokkyu Kwon and Marco Tilio look set to be shipped out on loan too, and those would free up space for the “quality” additions Rodgers has been craving.

Yet while a clear-out is badly needed at the Scottish champions, Rodgers confessed having those awkward conversations is one of the most difficult parts of his job.

He said: “It’s the hardship of the job. It’s one of the tough moments that you have. But I always think you’re better being clear with the player and where he stands.

“It’s a challenge because you know that sometimes a player will leave here and he won’t have similar conditions again at his next club. But you have to do it for the greater good of the team, the club and for the player himself.
