Jerry Jones’ Heartwarming Gesture Leaves Cowboys Nation in Tears

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had a cool gesture for a fan who died just before attending their first game.

Timothy Washington, a lifelong Cowboys fan, was to attend his first-ever game against the Washington Commanders, but collapsed and died just yards from the stadium. Jones became aware of the story and reached out to the Washington family personally with a letter and flowers.

Jones said he was “grateful” that the Cowboys could play a “small part” in Washington’s life and send condolences and best wishes to the family.

The longtime Cowboys owner can be something of a stereotype thanks to his larger-than-life personality, his ownership of the Cowboys, and some of his public pronouncements. That said, he does not lose sight of the team’s fanbase. This was a neat gesture, and one the family clearly valued and appreciated a great deal.
