Breaking News: Texas Scores a Huge Win with 2025 4-Star ATH Lance Jackson’s Commitment

AUSTIN — Amid an offseason that’s seen commitments and roster additions left and right, the Texas Longhorns have built for the future again by adding the fifth pledge of their 2025 recruiting class. Texas secured a commitment on Sunday from 2025 Pleasant Grove (Texarkana, TX) athlete Lance Jackson, who plays both tight end and defensive end. He shared the news on X (formerly Twitter). The 6-5, 245-pounder chose the Longhorns over programs like Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas A&M and more.

As a freshman in 2022, Jackson posted 63 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and two pass breakups. When Ja’Tavion Sanders arrived in Austin, he faced outside doubts regarding his ability at tight end. There were some that felt a role on the defensive line suited him best. It’s clear who ended up being wrong.

However, Jackson embraces that versatility and now gives the Longhorns a dynamic talent that could fill a role in two different areas. Due to Pete Kwiatkowski’s involvement in Jackson’s recruiting, he’s likely to remain on the defensive side of the ball but he gives Steve Sarkisian options.
