Exclusive Insights: Kayvon Thibodeaux Reveals His Top NFL Quarterback Pick
Kayvon Thibodeaux was the guest on Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero’s podcast, “7PM in Brooklyn, ” aired on Thursday afternoon. The New York Giants first-round pick in 2022 touched on multiple subjects, ranging from his current team to playing basketball. One thing that popped up was Carmelo Anthony’s favorite team, the Baltimore Ravens, who are preparing for the AFC Championship Game. Naturally, Lamar Jackson and NFL quarterbacks became a focal point.
Thibodeaux made it clear during his appearance that he is not a fan of any NFL players, as he is an NFL player trying to chew them up and spit them out. However, he was very complimentary of two quarterbacks in the league right now. The first was the Ravens superstar, as Kayvon Thibodeaux clearly stated “I currently think Lamar Jackson is the best quarterback in the NFL.”
Also receiving praise was Patrick Mahomes, who Thibodeaux considered one of the two legends currently playing, alongside Jackson. That’s high praise for both men, who are undeniably two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL these days. To Thibodeaux’s credit, if (more like when) Lamar Jackson wins AP NFL MVP for this season, he and Mahomes will have taken home four of the past six league MVP awards.
Famously, Lamar Jackson is 20-1 as a starting quarterback against NFC opponents. With that number in line, it’s highly unlikely that Thibodeaux’s Giants were that lone loss. Well, not only are the Giants responsible for that loss, but Kayvon Thibodeaux made the play that sealed the deal.
After New York took the lead with under two minutes remaining, it was up to the defense to get a stop. Thibodeaux delivered, sacking Jackson and forcing a fumble that the Giants recovered. He won the first battle against the quarterback he holds in the highest regard as a rookie. Thibodeaux’s Giants will host Jackson’s Ravens again next season
Based on Kayvon Thibodeaux’s comments, this year’s AFC Championship (and Super Bowl) should be exciting. Jackson and Mahomes are squaring off for a trip to the NFL’s title game. Both of the two active legends, in his words, are getting a shot to showcase their stuff on the biggest stage. Sunday afternoon, at 3:00 p.m. EDT, the Ravens and Chiefs collide for a conference championship. If this boils down to which quarterback is better, the world knows where Thibodeaux is leaning.
