San Francisco 49ers win NFC championship, will face Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl

The San Francisco 49ers are heading to the Super Bowl once again.

The 49ers, hosting the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday evening, came back from a 17-point deficit to win 34-31 to make the team’s eighth trip to the Super Bowl.

Facing San Francisco in the final game of the National Football League playoffs — Super Bowl LVIII will be played Feb. 11 in Las Vegas — will be the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship earlier Sunday.

The 49ers were down 24-7 at halftime Sunday but scored the game’s next 27 points on their way to the win. The last time they made the Super Bowl was in 2020 and was also against the Chiefs, who scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter to come back and win 31-20
