what Chris Braswell learned from Nick Saban You won’t believe
Chris Braswell is one of the final Alabama football players to have spent his entire college career coached by Nick Saban. The edge-rusher developed well throughout his time with the Crimson Tide, culminating in a final season in which he replaced Will Anderson opposite Dallas Turner and finished third in the SEC sacks.
Now, Braswell is preparing for the Senior Bowl in Mobile in an effort to help his NFL Draft stock. During an introductory press conference ahead of Tuesday’s practice, Braswell was asked about the biggest lesson he learned from Saban.
“He’s a great coach,” Braswell said. “One thing that I learned from him is doing all the right things when no one is looking. Everybody can do all the right things when you have the cameras on you, but behind closed doors, are you going to still do those right things? So that’s one of the biggest things from him is just working hard, even when no one is looking.”
Braswell is one of three Alabama players in the Senior Bowl, alongside defensive lineman Justin Eboigbe and kicker Will Reichard. All three former members of the Crimson Tide will play for the American team in the game.
Saban retired Jan. 10 after 17 seasons and six national championships in Tuscaloosa. He was replaced by Kalen DeBoer, who joined the Crimson Tide after coaching Washington to a national championship appearance.
The Senior Bowl is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT Saturday at Hancock-Whitney Stadium in Mobile. The game will be aired on the NFL Network.
