Celtic News: Shocking Financial Claim Unveiled – Prepare for Outrage
With Celtic sitting on a £70m pot of cash, the support was expecting the club to spend big to help bolster the title run-in.
With Rangers closing the gap at the top of the table and Celtic needing to add to key positions in the squad, the Celtic support was expecting to see Brendan Rodgers bring in some ready-made first-team players.
As it happened, only two faces were added to the team and with only £3m spent, the fans are clearly confused as to why more players were not brought in.
However, Mark Guidi has claimed that Celtic do not have £70m in the bank. In fact the journalist believes that the Hoops have way more cash reserves than previously thought.
And looking at the business done in January, this claim made by the journalist will enrage the Celtic supporters.
Guidi said [The Go Radio Football Show], “It’s hard to gauge when a football club like Celtic’s got 52,000 season ticket holders and a worldwide fan base.
“However, you listen to the calls that come in on Go Radio over the past few nights and tonight. You look online you look at some of the Celtic bloggers and mood in the camp.
“The Celtic fans, by and large, are not happy. And who can blame them?
“They are looking at their football club that’s got an excess of £70m in the bank. It might even be closer to £85m.
“You’re looking at a fan base, season ticket holders and then your Champions League money separate. They have put in about £40m a year.
“And that’s not counting buying that pie and buying the jerseys or whatever. That’s just in ticket money. And they feel let down.
“They have every right, every right I think, not to be happy.”
Celtic supporters will not be happy at Guid’s £85m claim
The January window is one that promised so much but delivered so little for the Celtic supporters. It was widely accepted that a striker, left-sided full-back, goalkeeper and, possibly a midfielder was needed this window.
As such, Celtic spent just £3m on Nicolas Kuhn and brought in Adam Idah on loan. If you take into account the £2m received for David Turnbull’s move to Cardiff City, the Hoops have spent just £1m outlay in adding to the squad.
Whether or not these new additions will improve the team is anyone’s guess but early indications are that Khun seems to show promise.
If Celtic do, in fact, have £85m in reserve and lose the league due to poor recruitment in January, then the fans will be furious and will demand answers from not only Brendan Rodgers, but the Parkhead board.
