Opinion Poles That Should Be Considered As Ryan Poles Pulls The String Should Steelers Trade TJ Watt

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 1-11 without superstar edge rusher T.J. Watt on the field, but if the team is going through changes this offseason, which they are, one analyst believes they should include the All-Pro in that mix.

During his show on 93.7 The Fan, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette columnist Ron Cook suggested the Steelers should trade Watt this offseason to add more to their roster.

“If you don’t look at them as a legit Super Bowl contender right now, and I don’t, I would consider trading T.J. Watt,” Cook said.

“I don’t think they will because I think they always look at themselves as a Super Bowl contender even though they haven’t won a playoff game in seven years. But would it be outrageous to consider that possibility?”

The Steelers always view themselves as Super Bowl contenders, and going to the playoffs with a major question at quarterback and after firing their offensive coordinator mid-season, chances are they believe those expectations should be even higher after fixing both issues this offseason.

Watt is under contract until after the 2025 season and just earned his fourth First-Team All-Pro selection. He’s also a top candidate for Defensive Player of the Year.
