Scottie Barnes Has Come Under Fire Regarding His Statements As Management Weirds In With Big Rod

Scottie Barnes Has Come Under Fire Regarding His Statements As Management Weirds In With Big Rod.

The Toronto Raptors finally embraced their future when they dealt OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam before the trade deadline.

The Raptors have been stuck in mediocrity for years, but by trading away Anunoby and Siakam they were able to hand the keys of the franchise to Scottie Barnes.

Barnes had a strong start to the 2023-24 NBA season, and thus made it easier for the Raptors to part with their veterans and kickstart their rebuild.

Now, Barnes will be making his first All-Star appearance in Indianapolis this weekend and it should be an exciting moment for the young forward.

Making the All-Star team this early in his career bodes well for his future, but this is just the first step to superstardom for Barnes.

While making a name for himself is important, he revealed what his ultimate goal is via The Shift.

I think my path is more than that … my ultimate goal at the end of the day is trying to win a championship with the Raptors,” Barnes said.

Winning a championship is every player’s goal, and it sounds like Barnes understands what actually matters in the NBA.

However, it might take several years for Toronto to catch up to the rest of the Eastern Conference because teams like the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Philadelphia 76ers are set up to compete for years.

There are also under-the-radar teams like the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers that are up-and-coming as well.

Barnes has the makings of someone who can be a contributor on a title team, but the path to a championship is a long one.
