Breaking News: Brendan Rodgers Raves About Celtic’s 18-Year-Old Player, You Won’t Believe His Attitude

Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, took the time to praise young Daniel Kelly as the 18-year-old scored on his Scottish Premiership debut last night.

The Scotland u19 international replaced Callum McGregor at the break in Celtic’s 7-1 win and as well as putting in a great performance, he also scored the Hoops’ seventh and final goal in the Dundee rout.

Indeed, young Kelly made his full first-team debut in the 5-0 win over Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup and it does seem like Celtic have a talented and level-headed youngster on their hands according to Brendan Rodgers.

The Hoops gaffer was obviously elated at the win and performance of the whole team last night but singles out young Kelly for his assured 45 minute cameo which was topped off with his first senior goal.

Rodgers said [Celtic TV], “Brilliant for young Daniel Kelly. It’s so nice when you get a homegrown player.

“The young kid has been here since he was eight years of age. I’ve seen him in preseason and I really like what he has.

“He’s got good physicality. He’s got an incredible attitude for a young player, and it was just about timing for him and to give the chance.

“A great time for him to come in and a really good goal.”

Signing his first professional deal at Celtic last season, Kelly has been developing quite nicely in the Celtic B team.

With 30 appearances under his belt, the youngster was promoted to training with the Hoops’ first team and taken on Celtic’s pre-season tour last summer. [Transfermarkt]

Tipped to go out on loan, Kelly now seems to have carved himself into Rodgers’ thinking and is likely to feature for Celtic more regularly, if not this season, then certainly next.

The Celtic fans love seeing academy players get promoted and make it into the Hoops’ first team and after last night’s display, they will certainly be hoping to see more of Daniel Kelly in the senior setup.
