Nebraska Coach Matt Rhule Breaks The Silence About Interest Away From Nebraska
Even before Matt Rhule got to Lincoln, he got rave reviews for the kind of college football head coach he was. He’s long been thought of as someone who can build something out of nothing. He’s also been looked at as someone who can then take the Nebraska football team and make them contenders again.
The question surrounding Matt Rhule is this. If he’s thought of as someone who can build programs like few others, where does he rank among the Big Ten coaches. On3 decided it wanted to take a look of where it would rank all the Big Ten football coaches.
1 from 18, just where does the Nebraska football coach rank? It turns out he’s just outside the top third, which is fair. It is worth pointing out that he’s closer to the top of the conference than some might expect, considering he had a Husker team that was 5-3 last year and that finished 5-7.
So where did the site have Rhule ranked? He’s currently coming in at number seven in the conference. It’s likely he got to move up a spot or two because of the exit of Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh. It’s worth noting that Sherrone Moore has not entered the rankings ahead of the Nebraska football coach.
With Rhule coming in at seven, Wisconsin’s Luke Fickell, Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz, Penn State’s James Franklin, Oregon’s Dan Lanning, USC’s Lincoln Riley and Ohio State’s Ryan Day are ranked ahead of him.
In ranking Rhule that high, the site took his ability to turn a program around into account. It also gave him big credit for landing 5-star quarterback Dylan Raiola.
With those rankings now out there, one has to wonder if Rhule can’t work a little magic with Nebraska football and jump a few of the coaches in front of him.
