Clippers VS Mavericks: hard to take as As Star Player set to miss the game…

Mavericks center Dereck Lively II — who missed the final eight games of the season due to a right knee sprain — fully participated in practice Tuesday, coach Jason Kidd said.

Kidd said Lively looked good despite the long layoff and the team will see how he responds on Wednesday, which is an off day for Dallas.

The 20-year-old rookie is preparing for his first playoff appearance while mourning the tragic loss of his mother, Kathy Drysdale, who died Friday after an 11-year bout with cancer.

Lively announced his mother’s passing in an Instagram post less than two hours before he attended the Mavericks-Pistons game at American Airlines Center, wearing the Mavericks jersey his mother wore, with Drysdale on the back.

“For his mom to pass this afternoon, for him to come to work, he had every right to stay with his family and friends. … It just shows leadership,” Kidd said after the game. “We’re going to be here to support him.”
