After Missing The Play Off Clay Thompson Declares “I Am Leaving” As Chris Paul Too Decides…
The Golden State Warriors went crashing out of the NBA Play-In on Tuesday night, suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Sacramento Kings.
The disappointing season and final loss has many wondering if this is the end of a glorious era for the Warriors. While Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are yet to decide their future, Chris Paul has confirmed his.
Paul spoke to The Athletic shortly after the conclusion of the season and was adamant that he is not retiring.
Paul has come under a lot of criticism throughout his first season at Golden State. The 38-year-old struggled with injuries and didn’t find a way to carve out an important role when he was healthy.
He averaged a career-low in points per game and didn’t look like the still-efficient point guard he showed to be even just a couple of seasons ago with the Phoenix Suns.
Paul is still under contract for next season with the Warriors, and his contract would become fully guaranteed if he’s still on the team after June 28. The Warriors will likely look to trade him somewhere.
Clay Thompson is going on free agency as he is not expected to be giving any contract extension.
