The home of former University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach John Calipari recently hit the market with an asking price of just below $4 million. Here’s what we know.
Calipari’s Lexington home, southeast of downtown on Richmond Road, sits on 1.2 acres and stretches 9,615 square feet, according to the Zillow listing. The five-bedroom, eight-bathroom home has a grand foyer and dramatic staircase; a two-story stone fireplace; a large kitchen with an island; and a basement projection room and gym area. Outdoors is a pool, half-court basketball court, pool house and three-car garage.
Calipari, who left the Wildcats last month after 15 years for the head coaching position at the University of Arkansas, purchased the home in 2009 for $1.875 million. Melinda Drake, the realtor at The Brokerage who listed the home, said they went based off the appraisal value rather than the market value.

Drake said Calipari wants the home to go to a good family or someone who can enjoy it as much as his family did in their many years there. The property could’ve been listed at a higher value in the range between $4.1 to $4.4 million rather than the current asking price of just below $4 million. It also includes the sale of two separate parcels, one with the pool house and basketball court and the other with the three-car garage and home.
