Sad news as Bills’ star player tells club he wishes to leave this…

Josh Allen will have a new No. 1 wide receiver in 2024.

For the first time since 2019, the Bills quarterback’s top option at wide receiver will not be Stefon Diggs, as Buffalo sent the receiver to Houston in a trade with the Texans.

Since Diggs was acquired in 2020 in a deal with the Vikings, he finished first on the Bills in receiving yards and receptions all four seasons with Allen. The wide receiver has been good for at least 100 catches and 1,000 receiving yards every year of his tenure in Buffalo, giving the gunslinging QB a consistent option on the outside.

Diggs is the latest player to leave the Bills in what has been an avalanche of offseason departures. Buffalo previously said goodbye to safety Jordan Power, cornerback Tre’Davious White, left tackle Mitch Morse, wide receiver Gabe Davis and linebacker Leonard Floyd.

It’s safe to say it’s going to be a revamped look on both sides of the ball for Buffalo in 2024. But who is left in the passing game for Allen

The Bills wide receiving room already was a bit on the weaker side to begin with before the Diggs trade. It’s in even rougher shape now.

With Diggs out, the team has no true No. 1 wide receiver. Khalil Shakir becomes the de facto top option at the position with the losses of Diggs, as well as Davis, who signed with the Jaguars in free agency. However, Shakir, who is heading into his third NFL season, has just 49 receptions for 772 yards and three touchdowns in his short NFL career.
