How a Dak Prescott Contract Extension Could Impact Cowboys’ Roster

The Dallas Cowboys are ready to go to the postseason again in 2024 after filling a few major holes in their roster this year through the NFL Draft. With quarterback Dak Prescott heading into his last season of a deal, things are less certain after this one.

According to recent comments made by Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, Dallas does think highly of the 30-year-old signal-caller and that extending him is a “priority”.

Jones stated on Mad Dog Sports Radio, “I really believe Dak can lead us to a championship” (h/t Jon Machota of The Athletic). “He approaches things with integrity. He is without a doubt the team’s leader in football.”

Extending Prescott would give Dallas much-needed stability at the game’s most important position, but it would also have significant financial implications. He was an MVP candidate in 2023 and is likely to command a top-of-the-market contract.

A league-leading deal—or something close to it—would heavily impact the Cowboys’ roster now and in the future.
