It happens often in Los Angeles, when a Midwest visitor spots a celebrity and gets nervous.
That includes Jim Harbaugh.
The new Los Angeles Chargers coach admitted recently that when he locked eyes with quarterback Justin Herbert, his knees got wobbly.
“I was a little starstruck to meet Justin,’’ Harbaugh revealed on Sunday’s CBS’s pre-game show before the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens for a trip to Super Bowl
Herbert’s role in the Chargers luring Harbaugh away from Michigan in the wake of the Wolverines winning the national title can’t be discounted. The money and location had to be right for Harbaugh, but so did having a young, franchise quarterback on the team as well.
In the Pro Bowler Herbert, Harbaugh certainly has that. Herbert, who missed the final four games last season with a broken finger, has the Chargers in position for a bright future.
And with Harbaugh, an NFL quarterback for 14 years, mentoring Herbert, his star could shine even brighter
