Head Coach Mike McCarthy sadly declares his intension to leave cowboys today’ another significant issue for the team…

FRISCO – Who is Mike Hohensee Jr. and why are they saying all these wonderful things about him?

It struck me as odd that one of the very first things that came out of Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy’s mouth in his recent pre-Rookie Minicamp press conference had nothing to do with his overall evaluation of the roster, the coaching staff changes or the heralded NFL Draft picks.

First up … Northwest Missouri State quarterback Mike Hohensee Jr.

“I do not recall a young quarterback coming in here on a tryout and commanding the huddle,” McCarthy claimed. “And the quality of just the reps of getting in and out of the huddle and the understanding being this high.

I use the word “claim” here advisedly; I haven’t really done any deep dives into the other QBs who’ve been brought in here as “minicamp arms” in a way that would line ’em all up in comparison.

But … suddenly it seems like the 6-2, 195-pound Hohensee – the son of a former QB and coach – might have a shot at an extended stay here.
