Despite a strong performance in the previous game, the Miami Heat have sent center Orlando Robinson to the G League affiliate in Sioux Falls.
The decision was made after Robinson had 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in Wednesday’s victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He shot 6 of 9 from the field in 28 minutes.
Robinson was given the opportunity because the Heat were playing without starter Bam Adebayo, who is dealing with a bruised hip, and Kevin Love (personal reasons). Adebayo is listed as questionable for Friday’s game against the New York Knicks while Love has rejoined the team.

Despite a strong performance in the previous game, the Miami Heat have sent center Orlando Robinson to the G League affiliate in Sioux Falls.

Robinson was given the opportunity because the Heat were playing without starter Bam Adebayo, who is dealing with a bruised hip, and Kevin Love (personal reasons). Adebayo is listed as questionable for Friday’s game against the New York Knicks while Love has rejoined the team.
Their availability is likely why the Heat can afford to send Robinson to G League for more reps. The move has nothing to do with his play because Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has been impressed with Robinson’s growth this season.
“Orlando, he’s earned the trust of everybody,” Spoelstra said. “He understands our system very well.”
Spoelstra has been impressed with the depth at frontcourt in general.
“When I said that earlier in the season at media day, I felt like this was one of the deeper teams we’ve had. In particular, what I meant was the frontcourt,” coach Erik Spoelstra said after the win. “We have more depth at those frontcourt positions than we’ve had probably in some of the previous years.”
