The Toulousain Stadium is expected to light up on Friday when Stade Toulousain hosts Stade Rochelais in a monumental Top 14 semi-final.
Having finished top of the standings in the regular season, the hosts earned the direct ticket to the semis and a crucial one-week rest. The two giants of French rugby have been a permanent fixture in the playoffs in recent years. Toulousain and Rochelais will face each other in the final phases of the season for the sixth time in five years.
The record Top 14 champions have however dominated Rochelais with five straight victories in the playoffs, underscoring their superiority. Such has been their dominance that despite already securing the Champions Cup this season, Ugo Mola’s men are aiming for the double.
Toulousain’s regular season was highly impressive having garnered 16 victories and 10 bonuses pocketed, including having the best at
tack.
