Indiana Mens Basketball Star Transfers To NBA Los Angeles Lakers.

The 31-year-old big man, who was an unrestricted free agent, signed a contract with New Orleans (where he played last season) and was traded to Atlanta in a deal for guard Dejounte Murray.

The Atlanta Hawks acquired guard Dyson Daniels, forwards E.J. Liddell and Larry Nance Jr., and center Cody Zeller (via sign-and-trade), a 2025 first-round pick (via Lakers), and a conditional 2027 first-round pick (least favorable of Bucks/Pelicans, protected top four) from the New Orleans Pelicans, in exchange for guard Dejounte Murray,” the Hawks announced Saturday.

The terms of the deal with Zeller were not announced, but his inclusion in the trade was necessary to ensure that salaries matched and to allow Murray to earn a trade bonus.

Spotrac estimates Zeller will earn $3.3 million next season. According to Bobby Marks, Zeller’s deal for the 2024-25 season is guaranteed. The contract he signed must be for three years, but just the first season must be guaranteed, per Tristan Tucker.

The former Indiana Mr. Basketball has already played 11 seasons in the NBA and has earned over $75 million.

Zeller has played in 552 games for Charlotte, Portland, Miami and New Orleans and has career averages of 7.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
