CeeDee Lamb faces renewed pressure to reach an agreement with the Cowboys on a new contract

One of the best receivers in the NFL, CeeDee Lamb, will tell you he’s not getting paid like one.

While other elite wideouts like A.J. Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Justin Jefferson signed record-breaking contract extensions this summer, Lamb has been waiting for the Dallas Cowboys to pay him for being one of the best offensive players in football. Given the Cowboys’ salary limit crunch and the desire to firmly define the futures of quarterback Dak Prescott and edge rusher Micah Parsons, owner Jerry Jones has taken his time in working out a new deal for Lamb. Lamb is asking for a raise from his low rookie contract, and time is running out as a blockbuster trade seems unlikely.

“Hard to imagine” Lamb refuses to agree to a new deal. On Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN’s NFL Insiders told Pat McAfee that he finds it “hard to imagine” that Jones and the Cowboys will allow Lamb to play in Week 1 of the 2024 season without a contract. Due to his ongoing contract dispute, Lamb has been skipping training camp; yet, with Prescott’s future in Dallas still up in the air, it is imperative that the Cowboys sign Lamb for the long term.

With 135 receptions, 1,749 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns last season, Lamb set personal records while helping the Cowboys capture the NFC East and the #2 seed in the conference. The Cowboys have expressed that they think they are in a contention window despite their heartbreaking wild card round loss to the Green Bay Packers, so supporters may find it confusing that they are hesitant to extend Lamb and Prescott.
