Top Wisconsin Offensive Lineman Riley Mahlman Commits to Oklahoma: Welcome to the Sooners

Riley Mahlman sat on the edge of his bed in Lakeville, Wisconsin, staring at the pile of college hats before him. A massive offensive lineman with a gentle demeanor off the field, he’d spent the past two years navigating a whirlwind recruitment process. Today, it was decision day.

The Oklahoma Sooners had always been a powerhouse, known for their explosive offense and passionate fan base. Riley had grown up admiring their ability to develop linemen into NFL-ready players. Still, leaving the Midwest for Norman, Oklahoma, was a monumental decision.

As he looked out the window, his younger brother burst into the room holding a red-and-white Sooners football. “C’mon, Riley! You know it’s gotta be Oklahoma,” he said, grinning ear to ear.

Riley chuckled and ruffled his brother’s hair. “You’re biased,” he replied. “But you’re not wrong.”

Later that afternoon, surrounded by family, friends, and reporters at his high school gym, Riley took the mic. “First, I want to thank my coaches, my teammates, and, most importantly, my family for supporting me through this process.” He paused, letting the suspense build. “After much thought and prayer, I’ve decided to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Oklahoma. BOOMER SOONER!”

The room erupted into cheers as Riley placed the crimson and cream Oklahoma cap on his head. His parents hugged him tightly, proud but emotional at the thought of their son heading so far from home.

Within hours, the Sooners’ fan base had flooded social media with messages of welcome. Coach Brent Venables called Riley personally to express his excitement. “We can’t wait to see you in that Oklahoma jersey,” Venables said. “You’re the final piece to our offensive line.”

Riley smiled, imagining his future. He could already hear the roar of 80,000 fans at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. He knew this was just the beginning.

“Let’s get to work,” Riley thought, ready to bring his Wisconsin grit to the Sooner Nation.
