5-Star QB Reveals Surprising Insights into Recruitment Ahead of Michigan Football Visit

The Michigan football team secured a five-star quarterback in the last recruiting cycle and is aiming to do the same in 2026. One of their key targets is Ryder Lyons, who is set to visit Ann Arbor from April 9th to April 11th. Lyons also has upcoming visits planned with Ole Miss, Ohio State, and USC.

Ryder Lyons has been in frequent contact with Michigan’s head coach Sherrone Moore and new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey. Lyons shared his thoughts with 247Sports, saying, “Coach Lindsey is really personable and an excellent coach. Coach Moore has been recruiting me hard too. He’s a young coach with a lot of energy, and you can really feel his presence. He’s very easy to talk to.”

Lyons is a five-star recruit, ranked as the #6 player in the 2026 class, the #3 quarterback, and the top player in California. He currently plays for Folsom High School in Folsom, California.

According to his scouting report, Lyons is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 class. He had an impressive sophomore season, accounting for 61 total touchdowns. At the SoCal Elite 11 Camp in March 2024, Lyons displayed a quick release, the ability to make accurate throws from both inside and outside the pocket, and showcased his physical tools with a 36” vertical jump, the second-highest at the camp. He combines impressive athleticism with an advanced understanding of the game.

Although there is still a long way to go in the recruiting process, Michigan is in a strong position, and this upcoming visit is crucial for their chances.
