Che Adams was relegated with Southampton last season, scoring just five goals, and Walker claims Everton “want” to sign the English-born player, as he told Go Radio.
The struggling Toffees have finally added Beto to their squad following his move from Serie A side Udinese.
And despite Adams’ 124 Premier League appearances, which included the departures of teammates such as James Ward-Prowse and Romeo Lavia, he remained.
Still, Walker believes that Adams is a “very good” offensive leader and someone who brings “strength” to his game.
Walker said: “Everton have to look at themselves as a relegated club because they have been there.
“They wanted Che Adams’ experience to help them get out of difficult situations.
But nothing was done.
“I don’t know what will happen to him in January because he was on the bench at Southampton.
I think he leads the team very well.
He has this power.
Physical.
He can make others play.
“And Scotland have a lot of players who can go forward and do a lot in the final third.
The 27-year-old is a classic example of someone who is too good for the championship but just can’t seem to make it in the Premier League.
In Adams’ last two seasons in England’s top flight, he scored 12 goals, but in four matches this season, he has scored three.
And that’s after starting just one game.
Regardless of what Southampton do this season, it won’t be surprising if Adams scores over 20 goals.
