Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer were both left really impressed with the way Hwang Hee-chan took his goal for Wolves against Newcastle United.
The South Korean was on target once again for Wanderers at Molineux.
It was his sixth Premier League goal of the season, meaning he’s already level with Wolves’ top scorers from the whole of last season Ruben Neves and Daniel Podence.
Hwang scoring at Molineux again also saw him equal the record for consecutive home games scored in.
The 27-year-old is the in the form of his life right now.
He is playing with supreme confidence, and looks a threat every time he has the ball in the box.
And his latest goal was seriously impressive, and wowed two men who very much knew where the goal was back in their playing days
Newcastle legend Shearer admitted that he was getting concerned as the game went on, because of the pace and power of Wolves.
They then played the clip of Hwang’s goal.
Toti Gomes – whom Conor Coady branded ‘sensational’ after the game – did brilliantly well to jink between a couple of players before slipping his teammate in.
Hwang then cleverly cut inside, leaving Dan Burn on the ground, before tucking away at the near post.
It led Shearer to say: “They (Wolves) were becoming a threat. And then Hwang gets his sixth goal now this season, and he sits Dan Burn down. It’s a fantastic finish. The ability, the close control, the balance there to stay up and then of course, the finish.
Lineker chipped in: “Brilliant on that left foot. Fantastic
This was such a brilliant goal from Hwang.
Potentially, it could be the best one the £14 million star has scored since he came to the club.
The awareness of Burn coming in to try and block his shot, and the skill to cut inside to create the space, was just superb.
It’s made even more impressive by how quickly he did it, and on his weak foot too.
Gary O’Neil has talked up Hwang’s intelligence this season and this was further evidence of how smart a player he is.
