Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Unai Emery hopes to welcome back players from injury for Europa Conference League tie in Poland
Aston Villa will return to European action this Thursday when they face Legia Warsaw in Poland (5:45pm).
Villa defeated Hibernian 8-0 in the play-offs to secure a place in the group stage of the Europa Conference League for the first time in 13 years. They will face Legia, HSK Zrinjski Mostar and AZ Alkmaar in the group stage.
Heading into the clash, Unai Emery is still contending with some injuries, including Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia as they remain long-term absentees. Villa were however, boosted by the return of Alex Moreno in their 3-1 home comeback against Crystal Palace.
Ramsey broke a metatarsal while on international duty with England Under-21s earlier this summer. He is expected to return to full training soon.
Carlos picked up a hamstring issue in the defeat at Liverpool, but Emery explained after full-time that it was only a “small” injury.
The youngster has not featured for Villa this season after suffering a back injury during pre-season.
Mings sustained a serious knee injury in the first half of the 5-1 defeat to Newcastle. He has undergone surgery.
What Emery has said: “This week is very sad for us. With Emiliano Buendia, today with Tyrone Mings. We lost today but there was something that was more than we wanted but the worst today was the injury with Tyrone. We have to take some days in reflection and then prepare for the game against Everton.
Buendia also suffered a significant knee injury in training.
What Emery has said: “It’s the worst thing in football for the player, for the club, for us and his teammates. In the last action of training yesterday, he was injured and he’s now visiting the doctors. It is a ligament concern.”
